Very nice. Yes, everyone should pony up for the light weight milled wheels.

The weight difference is only 1.1 pounds:
27.6 pounds for the 20" forged wheels compared to 26.5 pounds for the 20" milled wheels.

I think the weight is a much less important factor than the look, at least my opinion. I am just thrilled this baby is now parked in my garage! In two days of ownership the wheels have been one of the most talked about parts of a stunning car...

those wheels are the best I've seen (including OEM and aftermarket)!

Alright Glisse, what's your take on the RS5 Sportback? https://www.audiworld.com/articles/n...show/#comments.
I've got 10K on my new S5 (love it) and now have to deal with this new temptation! Not sure the upgrade would be worth the $15-20K outlay, especially as a 4 season daily driver. Thoughts?

just my unsolicited 2¢:
If I were back living in Germany, the RS5 SB would be heavily considered.. but here in the US I don't think I'd ever get to truely appreciate the performance upgrades. :(

Good point. There's a subtlety and nuance to the 5s that seem to be lost here, all the way though the A, S, and RS. I can drive my S5 SB under the radar and it feels like my old A7, and then I kick it into Dynamic and Sport and I have my sports car, taking 35mph mountain curves at 65, laughing all the way.

2kg per wheel difference according to press briefings in Europe on both the RS5 and RS4 models. Which is 4.4lbs, not "only 1.1lbs". And Audi Media product details refer to "especially lightweight milled wheels" for the RS5 coupé and "particularly lightweight milled wheels" for the RS4.

So if the very wide spread press coverage quoting 2kg per wheel is wrong according to your Audi of America scales and there is hardly any difference, not good for Audi Sport in Neckarsulm to be exaggerating benefits, is it?

Agree with the last couple of posts on here, spectacular wheels. Well done, jkwb49!

This is the first RS model I would have bought without hesitation, precisely because it would make an excellent 4 season daily driver, even more so if it also takes on family duties.

If I was in the market for a new car within a defined budget range, I would buy a relatively stripped down RS5 SB over a fully loaded S5 SB, every time. Actually, my dilemma would be choosing between this and the RS4 Avant.

But would I trade out of my year old S5 Sportback early, taking a hefty hit on depreciation, to get an RS5? No, because I am happy enough with the S5. And when an RS5 Sportback eventually pulls up next to me at a set of lights (or more likely an RS4 Avant), I won't be thinking the owner has paid way too much relative to my car. I will be thinking wow, what a cool car, and feeling perhaps a tinge of jealousy. Next time, maybe :)
