Default Update...

Car is back at dealership. Now it’s a new problem. Got an error stating that the Sports Differential was malfunctioning. Technician is not exactly sure what the problem is or what is causing it. The current prognosis is that it’s an electrical harness which needs to be replaced. Bottom line is that the car has been in service for a total of 21 days since April 3 when I took delivery. So disappointed in this new RS5... I am trying to be patient, but it’s running out.

Yeah if this keeps happening ask them to give you a replacement car under the lemon law.

Yeah, this sounds like you've got a lemon in the making. Electrical problems are a can of worms. I would pressure them into getting an Audi engineer to look into this and as suggested, start looking into the lemon law in your state. I have a feeling this won't end well. First model year car, too.

The first car ended up being re-purchased by Audi as a lemon due to this issue. I received a replacement vehicle in April, which had the same issue, and I am now again in negotiations with Audi regarding the re-purchase of the second vehicle. I was recently told that Audi would prefer that I not get a third replacement vehicle because they feel that the error will reoccur on the third vehicle. IMO this is a completely insane situation and I am shocked it has not been a more widespread issue. I understand your frustration, trust me it really sucks to purchase such an expensive car and have this problem, not once, but twice, and not have a guarantee that it won’t happen a third time. Unfortunately, I may have to give up on Audi and go to BMW.

Audi must be really confident about the quality of the RS5.

Was it just the light or was the car not driving correctly? How did you go about having them replace the vehicle. I might do the same. This is ****ing crazy. My car drives fine but the engine light drives me nuts. Will they ever resolve this issue? I’ve never heard of anything like this.

My CEL came on around July 17th, 2 weeks and < 1,000 km into ownership. I don't remember the exact term the tech used, but he described it as similar to a waste gate or pop off valve, re-routes excess pressure back into the turbos, or something like that. He said Audi was aware of it and working on it, they think it may be a glitch. He reset it and said to come back if it comes on again. 5 weeks and 2,000 km later, so far,so good.
