RS5 Sportback at the SF Auto show

No. Horrid color.

Nobody orders this color. Except maybe to have a car so fugly it can’t be stolen. OTOH, driving this car is probable cause for arrest anyway...😆

bayarea_s5 11-22-2018 07:22 AM

Unfortunately photos don’t do it justice... but I hear ya, green isn’t for everyone.

I’m just NOT a person who cares much for green . . . Except in $$$ . . . But to everyone who likes it, a big Thumbs Up!

Is this a 2018 or 2019? I looked at the pictures but I couldn’t figure the year out.

RS5 SB is new for 2019

I think this color will look stunning under the sunlight

superswiss 11-22-2018 07:54 AM

Nobody around there seems to be interested in the car ;). I'm going probably tomorrow. Curious to see it in person, but mostly going to hopefully see the facelifted C63 S.

I came early so there wasn’t a lot of people yet and it’s the first day of the show. However I do notice the show gets smaller and smaller.

Yes they can.

Just wait until the automakers start REALLY pushing their electric golf carts. Suddenly all the "antiques" will be in even higher demand. Not a fan of how ideology is driving car design/production, instead of customer demand.

My dealer has an RS5 coupe in that color on display. Looks awesome in sunlight. The color is not for everyone, but it is very eye catching.
However, don’t want. No heated steering wheel. ;)

Lol the perforated steering did feel weird... I’d rather have alcantara...

I’m thinking about trading for the RS SB. However that green is just about Fugly in my opinion.

same thought I had when I first saw the car in pictures, but it’s stunning in person.

Love going to auto shows but they pick some odd color combinations

Nikon1 11-23-2018 01:31 AM

It goes get the “less seen” colors some exposure. When I see an S5 on the road (pretty unusual around here) it’s usually either Mythos Black or Daytona Gray. I’ve never seen a White or Blue in the wild — and certainly never the Green!

I don't ever expect to see another green one. There are only 94 of them in the US per Vincenzo. I do, however, like that green on the show RS.

RedKloud 11-23-2018 06:36 PM

Does the RS5 HUD show the current gear and RPMs?

Same here in SWFL. When I was shopping for my S5, we were stopped at a light, and I looked at all the cars around the 4-way Intersection, gobs of white/black/gray/silver. A couple red, 1 or 2 blue, and the odd other color. That, and I loved the changing color of the Navarro blue, is part of how I picked my color(I started with silver, went to red, and finally blue).

There are two modes in the RS head up display. The first mode is the standard mode that you get on any Audi model with a HUD, and the second mode is lap timer, oil temp, gear indicator, and then a shift light when in manual mode.

I just ordered the Sonoma so i do like that color. When i ordered my car my salesman said "Do you want black, gray or white?". I had a 2000 S4 in cactus green which was pretty rare. I also had an Estoril Blue S6 which was a great color too. To each their own but i just like something different. It will be easier to find in a parking lot :-).

njspeedfreak 11-25-2018 10:25 AM

I like the Sonoma Green and would consider it on a leased car that I didn't have to worry about re-selling somewhere down the road. It's got a nice pop to it and certainly stands out from the crowd without shouting like Imola Yellow or even the Tango Red.

Jimminez@Nemesis 11-26-2018 10:47 AM

When choosing mine, local dealer had a Sonoma coming with all the items I wanted. Considered it for a moment. Very cool color but not sure I could like with it for a long period. Great color though. Pops really well. Not sure I'm a pop color kind of guy though.

Interesting article on color choice from a physiological standpoint: https://www.foxbusiness.com/features...says-about-you

Resale considerations is something that factors in, but also what the color represents. It's not by chance that black is a very popular color for luxury cars. Black gets associated with luxury and sophistication. Men wear black suits/tuxedos to formal events etc. It also has a bad boy association, think Darth Vader. White has a similar association with luxury.

I went to see the RS5 SB and the color wouldn't be for me. Under the artificial light it didn't look particularity good. Seems to have a gold hue, so under the sun light it probably looks better. Overheard several people commenting that the car looked good other than the color.

The show itself is clearly on its last leg. BMW didn't even show up for it and to my disappointed, Mercedes brought an '18 C63 S to the show. Was hoping to finally get to see the facelifted '19 in person, but no dice.

Yeah I thought it was just me who noticed how bland the show looked compare to how they represented themselves before. I was thinking it was because of the construction but I highly doubt it. The only facelifted ‘19 they showed up with was the G wagon.

I felt the same way about the car show in San Diego last year. Audi was there, but BMW didn't show up at all and several carmakers didn't let you touch or get in the cars. It was pretty sad compared to the LA show. A lot of the floor space was devoted to collector/exotic cars that were well behind a velvet rope.

Waggin 11-29-2018 08:21 AM

I'd rather have an RS4 Avant If it showed up in US dealers, I'd be there the next day to trade on my 2018 S5 SB.
