S5 mileage run
Anyone actually getting 30 plus mpg highway ? Curious to see if you keep your foot out of the pedal if it’s obtainable !? VA here , so I’m pretty flat , slightly above sea level, gonna try a mileage run but it’s so hard to be sensible.

Last week, on a quiet ride to Ocean City, NJ.:
I was actually up to 32 mpg on the ACE but taking a picture at 85 was causing my wife to threaten a heart attack. Still, this is not the only time I’ve had results like that. Car was in “Auto” mode. It’s a very flat, 2 & 3 lane highway between Philadelphia & Atlantic City. Ocean City is a short run from the ACE via the GSP.

Best I've been able to manage so far over a long distance is about 29 mpg but I also live in the hilly and mountainous regions of NC. Do you find you get better mileage with comfort D or auto D?

In the city I am barely averaging 19mpg . If I left it in comfort 100% of the time I MAY reach 20mpg. I was really surprised I didnt get better. I have not had a highway trip yet to test it on.

the mileage will get better after 6 or 7 thousand miles. I get about 19 in the city as well but i drive in bumper to bumper traffic. Considering the performance of the s5, i think those mpg # are pretty good. I got 16 mpg with my mercedes cls550 which is slower than the s5.

I got 30.5mpg driving around this morning for about 35 miles, which included lots of easy driving between 50-65mph. I'm not sure how cold it is where you're at, but this is the first time I've been able to get above 30mpg because of the temps. Today was upper 50s.

I get 30 mpg+ on easily on road trips. Daily average 24.5 (reset 6,000 mile ago) so far with limited highway miles. Few opportunities to hoon about as I am still working off a speeding ticket with my insurance company from 18 months ago. . Can't afford another right now.
