Drive Select and Sport/Drive modes are separate. You can be in D or S for all Drive Select modes.
Put the car in Drive (D). Pull the shifter back once to put it in Sport (S). Pull back again to put the car back in Drive (D)... and so on.
Dynamic + Sport mode would be the most aggressive combination available.

I drove it in S mode for the first time last night. The car was quick! 😰 I'll probably drive it more often in S mode when I don't feel like paddling 😆

Any other feedback on the gas mileage people are getting with their new S5?
I know it's a performance car but I'm hoping that normal driving with some spirited time here and there would get better than 14ish MPG. I get around 19 with my current A6 now so I'm hoping to get better than that with the new S5.

Yeah, I get it's not going to break any sort of high MPG awards. It's just that my current A6 with the twin turbo 2.7T V6 has an EPA rating of 17/24 so it's combined is like 19 and with my driving I do get around 19 on average between fill-ups.
The new S5 is rated at 21/30 with a combined of 24 so hearing that people are only getting 15ish is a little disappointing.
I get that everyone drives differently which effects the MPG numbers but I figured that everyone who just got their new S5 so far are not racing from street light to street light yet due still being in the break in period so I figured maybe the current numbers would be more inline with the ratings.

I think if I put mine in comfort mode and just cruise, then I should get better mileage. My mileage is probably 75% high way and 25% NYC streets. I also drive in Dynamic and use the manual mode, where I rev a little higher before shifting. With that said, I think I can get up to about 18 to 20 mpg if I drive it like I'm taking a joy ride 😆
