Default Terrible trunk design in coupe

Has anyone had the pleasure of opening the trunk on the coupe on a rainy day only to have it pour water onto the back windshield and directly into the trunk? What a terrible design flaw! Anyone have a fix for this other than don’t open it in the rain? Lol!

cheers!

Mine does this, too. I think of it as a water-feature

Lol, good call! Just baffling given such great engineering that is in the rest of the car!

Sportback has a similar issue. The rain will run toward the sides and then drop straight into the open trunk bed.

Some of the early cars had this issue. It is rectified by some thicker weatherstripping at the back of the trunk. Go and talk to your dealer.

Open the trunk 45 degrees and let the water run off before opening it all the way. This happens on many other cars. The B8 had the same issue. The water channels get overwhelmed if you open the trunk all the way and have all the water run down at once.

Many cars do exactly this, not just our Audis.

I keep a squeegee in the back seat to remove the water before opening the trunk. I was thinking about adding this to the bottom of the rear window to help channel the water away...

Yep. Disappointing the first time this happened to me. This is what I do avoid the deluge.

Definitely, do not use the trunk release button when it is raining or when the car is wet for any reason.

I knew about this on the coupe but I've never had it happen on my sportback, the water flows on the sides as intended.
