I really think this is way, way overblown, because if any of this tariff/trade war talk were inevitable, then our markets are certainly not paying attention. And this is definitely something that should spook the markets. As of now, it hasn’t. But let’s see how it plays out.

Ah, Latrobe...home of my favorite crap beer to drink during summertime (Rolling Rock). How fitting that a town that makes tasteless and inexpensive beer is peppered with tasteless and inexpensive homes.
Good times, gonna grab one from the fridge right now!

Notes on how the global auto trade works
You can't compare tariffs/taxes on one single class of goods between two trading blocs. The EU might have a higher auto tariff, but the US has a higher agriculture tariff. Each side chooses which industry they want to protect more.
Also, if you want to know why the amount of investment is increasing in Mexican auto plants, look no further than the fact that Mexican auto parts can reach twice the global market tariff free because they have negotiated more free trade agreements with other countries.
If the US wants to play hardball and stick fingers in the eyes of their friends, they shouldn't be surprised when others see that and don't invite the US to their sleepovers.

Grover?
Also, where is Grover "all taxes are antiamerican" Norquist on these tariffs/taxes? He wouldn't let you raise business taxes by a single percent on their profits, but now we're going to see 25% taxes on essessent business expenses and he's silent.

According to this report http://tradepartnership.com/wp-conte...BriefJune5.pdf the ratio between steel and aluminum jobs gained (26,280) and related manufacturing jobs lost (432,747) will be 1:16.
