Default Jack storage location in S5

I've had my 2021 A5 SB for a little over 3 years. Looking ahead and thinking maybe about moving up to an S5. I've seen two different S5s at the dealer (2023 and 2024), and in both of them the jack is in a rectangular canvas or vinyl bag sitting loose in the rear compartment.

In my A5, the jack fits underneath the cargo floor cover next to the tool kit (as I found out on the shoulder of Interstate 35 last summer ), and I never have to think about it being there. But is this correct?--in the S5 it has to sit out loose like that? Yeah, I could strap it down, I guess (could hear it sliding around on the test drive).

For upgrading from A5 to S5, seems a little, ya know, "oh yeah, I guess we need to put a jack in here some place" afterthought.

Or does it fit in there and the dealer didn't do the prep?

It’s probably the same as my RS5, loose bag in the cargo area. It still surprises me Audi couldn’t figure out a hidden spot for it but it is what it is. I don’t like it just sitting there but I also don’t want to be without a jack so I just “accept” it, lol.

You can fit it underneath the cargo floor by the spare tire. Mine's been there since I bought my S5.

Yes that's the factory solution! I know some have managed to jam it into the compartment.
Does make me wonder why the A5's fits and it has the mild hybrid lithium battery back there too!

Depends on if you have the sport diff. MY19+ added the J949 under the tool kit floor panel. The J949 & sport diff means there's insufficient space for the jack in that panel. So, for a MY19+ sportback, no sport diff, you get the "B" panel which holds the jack: https://www.ebay.com/itm/386861145364 MY19+ sportback, with sport diff, you get the "C" panel which does not hold the jack: https://www.ebay.com/itm/403574475257 Both have the empty space to the left for the J949; the C also has a large empty space to the right under which the sport diff module goes.

Ah! Both of these had the sport package with the sport differential. Thanks.

My 2019 with Sport Diff has just enough space to squeeze the jack near the spare tire. There's an older thread with pictures on this topic.

The situation is even more annoying if you have high-coverage floor mats like Tuxmat, you can't actually clip the carabiner in so you just have the jack bag strapped on one end and dangling freely with the other.

That's what I did with my '19 as well. Works just fine.

Okay, then to hijack my own thread:

I've only driven the S5 with the Sport Package (includes the sport diff and the damping suspension). My impression is that it's a smoother ride than my A5 (with the A5 sport suspension), and I like it.

For those of you who might have had occasion to compare the S5 with/without the Sport Package: How do they compare/contrast? Worth it?

(I don't care about the red calipers, but it makes it easier to tell from a dealer's photo if the S5 has the sport package or not.)
