Using iOS and Droid simultaneously
Is it possible to connect two phones in car at once? The Droid would only be used for Waze Navigation. I would use the iOS device for calls and possibly voice text messaging. I could run Spotify on either.

The MMI does technically support multiple phones connected at once, but I haven't actually tried this particular scenario. However, I did a road trip with an Allroad with 4 other people in the car. We all had iPhones and for each one that was plugged in for charging (even from the backseats), the MMI prompted to activate CarPlay. However, I declined, so I'm not actually sure about what happens if you have multiple phones connected simultaneously and each one has CarPlay or AA enabled. I'm not sure if they all show up on the main menu, so you can enter CarPlay/AA for each phone.
One thing to keep in mind if going down this road, is that both CarPlay and AA disable Bluetooth, so you can't have a Droid connected for Waze and make a phone call over Bluetooth from your iPhone. Not sure what happens if you connect both and are currently using Waze over AA and then you receive a phone call, which would have to come in through CarPlay.

It sounds like I might be the first to try this. Isn’t it wonderful being the guinea pig. Either way I guess it does not matter I’ll just be happy to have a car

Also only the two front USB ports in the car (new S5 will have one in the center armrest console, one in front of the cup holders) will start carplay or AA. If you put a 12V charger in the front or the back seat, those will not start AA or CarPlay. This might be the easiest solution for you to have a phone able to be charged yet only make a BT, not data connection with the car.
Finally, I've found when you connect two phones to these ports, the last one connected wins as far as showing up on the screen. If you had an Android phone connected showing Android Auto, then you plug in an iPhone, you will have the screen switching to CarPlay on the plug in event of the iPhone. I believe through the Connection Manager in the MMI you should even be able to switch between the two phones.

This would work fine IMHO -- you just have to decline the Audi Connect manager from utilizing the iPhone for CarPlay if you don't want CarPlay to run. The iPhone would have to be paired over BT by you and put as one of the two telephones connected in the Connect Manager. Android Auto automatically pairs over BT while its connected and would be able to place calls through the center screen Android Auto UI. Both phones will be able to be answered from the instrument cluster / steering wheel controls if they ring.

Hi zoepup, sorry for bump but really interested how this turned out? I am looking at a new Audi and really want to use Waze, but my main phone is an iphone. Was thinking of getting the advanced phone option (in UK) that allows two phones via bluetooth (and the wireless charging) and buying a cheap Android phone. If this won't work then I won't bother with it!

Did you try using android at the same time? Or did you just stick with iPhone (you use the same one, or do you need 2?) because that is what you had already?
Its such a shame can’t use Waze via CarPlay. It would be really good if the AA just for Waze on the MMI screen and iPhone for phone etc would work.
