Using iOS and Droid simultaneously

I was able to use Waze on the MMI if I connected the droid to the USB port. However, this did not allow me to use the Car Play messages app which I use a great deal when I drive. So in my case, I preferred to have one iPhone connected to Carplay and a spare on the dash used for Waze (not connected to car)
