Default Virtual cockpit brightness at night

Is the only way to adjust the virtual cockpit brightness (the one behind the steering wheel) is to use that little pop-out stick near the headlight switch? I find the brightness doesn't change that much on either extreme. I just want it to be a bit dimmer at night.

Yes, that's how you adjust the brightness. I do notice it mostly at night based on how black the background is, but it also affects the brightness of the HUD during the day, and I haven't found a happy medium yet. Ideally, I'd like to dim the VC way down, but control the HUD brightness separately.

I have been pretty disappointed with the black levels on virtual cockpit. Maybe in three years they will have switched to OLED.

You could try some window tint in the appropriate shade to dim the screen down a little.

Screen burn in would be an issue
