Watch out for steep dips with A5 SB S-line sub-bumper!
So, my driveway at home is rather steep in one place where it enters the street, and wouldn't you know it - I scraped the bottom S-line piece under the front bumper. I called it "sub-bumper" in subject header, since I don't know what term to use. It's the piece that has an angular shape and runs parallel underneath bumper. Looks fine from where I stand, but if I feel the underside, it has scratches. I think it's a plastic piece, but is painted Florett Silver, the car's color.
Since no visible damage exists, I can wait to fix it. But I know it's there, so I will ask the repair shop what the cost might be to repaint or replace the piece. My insurance comprehensive coverage is $1,000 deductible, and I doubt this fix would cost more. But who knows!
A word to the wise. Those with this S-Line sub-bumpers on their SB's, PLEASE leave steep driveways or roads slowly at an angle to prevent the piece from scraping the road, and careful with dips. Learn from my mistake!

Thanks for posting. I've been driving an SQ5 for last 2 years, and switching to S5 SB. Your reminder may have saved me. I'll also need to think about the concrete wheel bumpers in parking lots.

I had the same issue with my A5 cab and previous A6. I found that if I'm backing out once the rear wheels hit the street I can turn hard and avoid the scrape. Need to go very slow though. I have been able to avoid this problem with my new S5 SB thank goodness.

On the F-Types (and most cars I'd imagine) there's a sacrificial thin strip that can get pretty chewed up although it's pretty inexpensive and replaceable...mine's almost perfect but I've seen other Jaguar forum members cars and they looked like hell.
