Default Your opinions on Sportback tires... stock, snow, etc!

Because of the vigorous discussion from another active thread here https://www.audiworld.com/forums/aud...taled-2942870/ I was hoping to collate fellow forum members' opinions on the tires that come stock as well as their recommendations for aftermarket options. All-season, winter, performance, etc.

I had read somewhere that 'stock' tires for the Sportback might depend on where you purchased them?

For starters, maybe we can document the tires that come with the A5 SB vs the S5 SB. My A5 SB came with 18" Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Seasons.

Are the same tires used for the non-SB A5s/S5s?

Stock:
18" Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season
19" Continental Sportcontact 5P Summer
19" Hankook S1 Ventus Evo2 Summer

Winter OE wheel set (offered depending on location):
Pirelli Sottozero 3
Bridgestone Blizzak

Here are many of the after market tires suggested, and I'll keep adding with info in future posts:

User recommendations:
All season:
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ - may be superior for wet/dry
Continental Extremecontact DWS06 - may be superior in snow
Nokian Hakkapelitta WRG3

Performance/Summer:
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
Michelin Pilot Super Sport

Winter:
Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 - studded
Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 - non-studded
Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4

Thanks to all who contribute!

^^

The stock tyre depends on your location, and that you haven't bothered to show in your user profile.

Agreed. Without a location included, posts can be useless since different markets have different features.

I live in the Chicago-area. Is there a 19" all season tire option? All I can see is that if I want all season, I have to go with the 18s and can't upgrade the rims.

No option to order 19" wheels from the factory with all seasons that I know of. You may however be able to get your dealer to swap the 19" summers out for all seasons when your car arrives for little/no cost - others way want to charge you for a full set of tires.

All seasons on an S5 with 18" wheels come with Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season at least in the US.

Granted, location is important. And this is an international community here on this forum. The goal of this thread is to collate everyone's tire experiences.

I'm on the West Coast of the US. Thanks @SYMAWD, sounds like NJ has it the same as here.

@Glisse, since you have 2 S5s, why don't you share what comes in Switzerland?

Sure. Stock tyres for the S5 are Continental SportContact or Hankook S1 Ventus Evo2, same as the US. Hankooks on ours, which both have 19" wheels.

There is no option for all-season tyres.

Audi provide winter wheel sets as accessory options. I've seen them with Pirelli SottoZero III on 19" wheels, Blizzaks on 18" wheels, but I am sure there will be other OEM spec (AO) suppliers for the B9. Probably Continental WinterSport.

We are using Pirelli SottoZero II on the SB, and Michelin PA4 on the Cab. Neither are OEM, both 255/35R19 XL 97V.

Whether an A5 uses the same tyres as S5, depends on trim levels which vary by country. With full S/line, yes, the same.

Default Tire Rack shows four 19" OE summer tires...

Continental SportContact 5P
Pirelli P Zero
Pirelli P Zero Rosso
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT

18" shows Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season and Bridgestone Potenza S001 summer.

I have 19" Continentals and 18" Sottozero3 in the Audi supplied winter package.
