2.7T oil smell visible smoke

2001 2.7T 124K miles.

I bought this car with a stack load of service records. When I test drove it I noticed a burning oil smell, I popped the hood and noticed some smoke towards the front of the engine on the drivers side. I check the receipts and noticed the previous owner declined a valve cover gasket replacement for the same described issue. I worked that repair into the purchase of the car. I bought this kit and had the dealer's guy do the labor. No smell or smoke!

Two weeks later more smell though this time the smoke (very little) was coming from the passenger side toward the front of the motor. I figured improper torquing and took it back to the shop. They say the valve covers are fine but the 'hoses to the turbo are leaking oil'. Recommended turbo replacement.

Just looking for some opinion here, there is not noticeable oil loss via dipstick and the car blows ZERO smoke. I also have the splash guard off and there is no oil on the garage floor. I ran the car fairly hard last week for on the hwy for a good 90 miles and I was passing other cars with ease....strong as an ox! This shop is an do any model shop so I definitely want to take it to a specialist before I proceed further.

Thanks in advance!

Had same issue. Turned out the valve cover gaskets gave way (leaking) - one leak on the drivers side front and one leak on the passenger side near firewall. Smell never went away. Audi repair place said to wait till I had to do some serious work before replacing and recently I had a cooling leak. They replaced the valve covers at the same time they replaced my radiator (saving on labor). Smell and smoke are now gone! I also changed out my cabin filter as it smelled of oil smoke. Now working fine!
Best!
