Default 2.7t rear brake upgrade...

Couple of quick questions as I begin to plan for a 269x22m rear brake upgrade to my '05 2.7t.
1) If I got the S4 caliper/A8 bracket as mentioned in Tech. Do I need to machine the upright or space the caliper carrier bracket?
2) Are the S4 calipers and A8 bracket the same parts as the stock 4.2 rear brakes? If not what are the part #s, since I may try sourace parts from car-part.com

TIA

V8 allroad and S4 are the same calipers. They are 269mm.You can get S8 brackets and rotors which will put you at 280mm

Isn’t 90% of the braking comes from the front on brakes. What would be the advantage of going with bigger rear brakes? I am hoping that I am wrong and that maybe this will make for a much better braking experience and is something that I can do on my 05 2.7t too.

I upgraded mine because I have Cayenne brakes in the front.

Thanks. I thought about the S8/280 rear option but haven't stepped up to bigger fronts yet. I only installed HP2s to replace the stock fronts, so far.

Are the A6 4.2s rears the same carrier and caliper as the AR4.2s?

Can someone explain to me why the brakes on the allroad are so mushy and unresponsive, when those on an A6 sedan are brilliant? You'd think the extra mass of the Allroad would mean it would get the better stuff, not the worse.......and really, it's only about 1 passenger heavier than an A6

allroad is about 400 to 500 pounds heavier.

And Audi decided that it should give the AR2.7t the weaker/cheaper front brakes (atleast the 02-05s) and smaller solid 255x10 rears, while the 4.2 got the nice HP2s and larger venterd 269x22 rears.

Hence my rationale to atleast upgrade my 05 2.7t to the nicer OEM setup on the 4.2.
