Default 2.7T Wizards needed. Odd ball problem...

Hi all. I posted this in the 2.7 engine forum but no answers just posting a link here to it incase there are any wizards with the 2.7T engine that may be able to point me in the right direction. Any help is appreciated.

not a wizard by any stretch... and not sure I'm following 100%. That being said, my old allroad had a random stall issue/no start when temps warmed up.. was the crank position sensor (CPS I think it's referred to as). Do a search on that and see if those symptoms line up with what you're dealing with. Hopefully, other more informed people will help you out.

Default VCDS says CPS is working fine...

Thank you for the suggestion and the help. I have a cheap replacement CPS I wanted to try but havent put it in just yet. VCDS shows rpm every time I crank even when it wont start. It shows 160nrpm then goes up to 200 rpm and holding steady whether it starts or not. Replacing the sensor just to write it off was on the to do list but havent done it yet. My alternator failed and my fan control relay module melted (and started a fire) so right now that is very much on one of the back burners (its a huge stove...lots of burners...one being a s4 fund....) If when I put her back together she still has the issue I will swap the sensor and see where I am at. She has also started misfiing on cyl 5 during WOT (alternator failed shortly after and a fire) Once its running i will try swapping the ignition coils and see what happens to the misfire. Still welcoming new suggestions. A new S4 is a great suggestion but no wagons available here in Canada and definitely no manuals....

Just an FYI the failure on the CPS will not necessarily log any codes, typically does not and will operate fine until it fails. Always seems to be heat related. Symptom is when the engine gets hot (hot weather related at times), operating temperature, the car stalls. Sometimes will start again and often will not start until the engine has cooled some.

So just to keep people posted or for anyone else who encounters a similar problem. I replaced the CPS and my symptoms did not go away. So currently looking into the situation further. Too subborn to give up I have some ideas in my head where I will start.
