2002 Oil change interval is 10k. Isn't that too long?
Had the front tires on my new ar rebalanced today. No more wobble. I found out the service interval is 10k for 2002. I know it came with synthetic oil but with the turbo should it be changed every 5k? Thanks for your feedback!

Ditto...
I was uncomfortable with the 7.5K interval in my A4 (2.8), and, for a pressurized engine, 10K seems way too long. So I'll be doing the 5K thing as well, and with synthetic, too.
(Do you suppose this will re-open the "what kind / what weight" oil discussion?) HPH

0W-30 in winter and 5W-30 in summer. I think that
it shouldn't be as big an issue not using 0W-40 (is that what Audi specs?) if you are using synthetics.
For the love of turbos, stay away from dyno oils or 10W-XX weights if you even drive moderaterly hard.

On the record they say every 10K; off the record they say 5K
My allroad's had eight oil changes (42,000 miles) and all the service departments I've gone to (three) have told me that, for the kind of driving I do, I should change every 5K. Audi *suggests* changing every 10K.
FWIW, I drove a Volvo 240 DL 410,000 miles (11 years) and a a Volvo 850 190,000 miles (5 years) by changing the oil frequently. Both cars are still running well to the people I sold them to. Maybe Volvo/Audi an apples/oranges comparison.
Hey, I'm gonna be a million-mile driver some day!

Just read a recommendation to use Mobil 1 15W-50
in an S4 (2.7T) in the "question & answer" section of Quattro Quarterly. The editor claims to have used it in his 1991 200 for over 200,000 miles. He goes on to write that the only reason Audi specs 0W-30 is for better gas mileage. IMO, 15W-50 seems way too heavy, especially in winter.

The tolerence of newer engines are much tighter too
I would only put 15-50 in older engines if the spec it. I prefer running the lightest recommended oil recommended in synthetic.
My A4 required 5-30 to 15-50 but when i tried a 10-30 synthetic v a 15-50 synthetic the engine oil temp read 25 degrees cooler, the car was more peppy and as you mentioned, fuel efficiency was up 2-3 mpg. All added benefits. IMO running an engine cooler (to a certain extent) is better.

The debate rages on...I only use 0W30 or 40 because of the turbos. Everybody has an opinion. Use..
your own best judgement and any trusted feedback you receive. The Audi engine in the 200 is NOT the 2.7 biturbo. I had a 2000 S4 before the allroad and my experience with 0W30 was terrific-ran a little warmer, but I had increased gas mileage and never experienced the "siren" effect associated with the early 2000 engines (due to narrower oil lines to the turbos)or cold turbo revs. I now have a source for 0W40 and I change every 5000. To each his own. My research provided me a compelling reason to use a synthetic and 0W40 works best for me.
