3rd row Seat Modification *Insight needed
Hi,
We have a 2002 Allroad that came without the 3rd row. Now I want to add one. While I know Audi says the mod is not something they do, the mechanic at Audi said it is possible with new floor boards... I'm very handy with cars as I've built a few from ground up, so I'm not threatend by taking our Allroad apart. Anyone ever done this modification? Any insight as to what parts I'll need to buy to replace? Contacts on parts suppliers?
Thanks so much ahead of time. We really like our Allroad and want to keep it. However, with the twins now at 5, the friend hauling factor kicks in and we need more room!
Best, Jim

Scroll back a page or three, this was recently done by someone else here.
It's a slow day at work, I found it for you...<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/allroad/msgs/152878.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/allroad/msgs/152878.phtml</a></li></ul>

His success is due to finding a donor car to swap bits with. If you are buying everything you
better have deep pockets.
But the good news is that is has been proven to be possible after years of naysaying by myself and others.

Jim - if you can not find a donor car you can probably do it for about $1500-$2000.
Also, what year is your car? I have a funny feeling that after they deleted the option (early 2003) that they may have also removed the mounting locations from the frame.
Part of the reason I went the donor route is that it didn't feel right to have two whole flooring configurations for the vehicle - I hate to waste :P.
If you do not want the cup holder sections then it is about $250 cheaper as well. Your best bet is to try to find a 2001 A6 Avant with third row that can trade with you as they have the cup holders. The sad part is that those vehicles are as rare as a 3rd row allroad. The beauty of the older A6s ('99 and '00s) is that they all had the hardware!
The car is fully prepared for the mounts. In some cases they have just used duct tape to cover the pre-drilled mounting locations.
Good luck and if you need assistance feel free to contact me directly.
