ABS, Brake, Air Suspension and ESP light on
First time here for my recently purchased 2004 AllRoad V6 with 189K on it. Last week the ABS, Brake, Air Suspension and ESP lights came on with the 3 beeps. Went away for an hour then came back to stay. Cruise control DOES work.
Scanning with a VAG shows the following 3 ABS errors: 01420- High pressure switch for valve 1 for ESP, 0419-Switch Valve 2 for ESP, 01418-Switch Valve 1 for ESP.
I tried clearing them but they come back immediately. I've cleaned and reinstalled the ABS module connector several times. I think the odds of all three suddenly going bad are slim. In addition the CAN bus is flaky, sometimes I can connect and other times not.
I'm thinking the ABS module is bad. Sound reasonable?

Hi,
changing the brake switch usually fixes the problem. I have personally done this fix on about 5 VAG cars. If you do a search on this forum you will find many others as well. The good news is the switch is cheap ($20) or so and it’s a diy. The only ‘trick’ is not to play with the new switch. It has a little ratchet type mechanism inside it to auto set the travel distance under the pedal. Don’t push the plunger in, it won’t spring back out. So, wiggle down under the dash, find the switch under the brake pedal, unplug the cable, twist a quarter turn and it drops out. Install new one is reverse. Takes less than 10 minutes. These are plastic switches and it’s a common failure on older models.

Had the same thing happen. Looks like it was due to blocked drains under the hood and the passenger floor getting flooded along with the transmission control unit and the electronic stability control unit. which are both under the front passenger footwell carpeting. Might want to look into it and see if this is your issue.

I'm dealing with the same passenger side flooding issue; ESP, ABS, brake and check engine dash annunciators all lit. From what other threads are indicating, ECM malfunction seems to also trigger the ABS alert. The ESP module is under the carpet at the passenger-side firewall. Give it a shot....

The flooding usually occurs because of gunk (often from windshield replacement) in the channel at the bottom of the windshield that makes water spill over onto the air filter instead of flowing off to the side under the fender.
