Default allroad 4.2 rear brakes

While reading the allroad 4.2 pdf i noticed
a discrepancy in the rear brake specs.
Rears are listed as 10.1 in. 269 mm - ventilated disc

269 mm = 10.6 in. and 10.1 in. = 256 mm

The A8L rear brakes are 269 mm so maybe
the allroad 4.2 rear discs are also 10.6 in.<ul><li><a href="https://www.audiworld.com/model/allroad/03/03allroad4_2.pdf">allroad 4.2 specs pdf</a></li></ul>

Default Final gear

Thanks for the link. I've had a question on the 2.7 tip final gear since the first time I saw the PDF file. On the 4.2 the final gear is 3.908, the 2.7 tip is 3.091. Does anyone else think the 2.7 number is a misprint?

Default Re: 4.2 final gear may be a misprint

That's possible but the A6 2.7 has a 3.5 final gear. I just found a posting on the A6 forum a that at 70 mph the 2.7 tip turned 2800 rpms. In the ar I turn just over 3000. I believe this would mean that the ratio should be higher not lower. It's not a big deal but I just find 3.09 hard to believe.

Remember to look at the top gear ratio and the final-drive ratio... then multiply them.

Default using one of many engine rpm calculators...

on the net you can verify or compare different
ratios of final drive gear and transmission gear ratio
along with road speed and tire diameter to calculate
the engine rpm.<ul><li><a href="http://www.reftools.com/reftools/recreation/autos/Engine%20RPM%20Calculator.html">Bowling and Grippo's rpm calculator</a></li></ul>

Default Sorry. Just meant to state that the actual gear ratio is a combination of gearbox and finaldrive...

....ratios.

But, as Turboglow's calculator indicates, I left out wheel diameter from the calculation of the overall effective gear ratio.

It's neccessary to look at all of these things to accurately gauge engine RPM at at a certain speed.

Default Oh no - GM must have worked on the motor!

The firing order is listed as 1-4-3-6-2-5. I guess they are keeping a couple holes spare. ;-)

Default Re: using one of many engine rpm calculators...

Thanks, I found a couple of others also. Using the numbers in the PDF file the calculations are far from what I observed. Using 3.901 final gear the rpm at 70 is closer but still over 400 rpms off. I wonder about the accuracy of the data in the PDF file.
