Allroad suspension parts problem...does anyone know if this is endemic?
 

I have a damaged suspension on my Allroad. It's been sitting in the shop for almost a month WAITING for the parts! I've asked how long it will take to get, and the repair shop doesn't know, I've contacted my dealer Keyes Audi, given them the part numbers and they don't know. The repair shop guy says they've sometimes waited 6 months for parts!

I've never had to replace parts on any of my Audis in the past, an 85 Coupe, a 96 A4, a '00 TT quattro roadster, so I've had no experience with Audi's parts supply. I've heard of the ignition coil problem a couple years ago, but I was wondering if anyone else has had problems, and how did they resolve them. Any useful phone numbers to call, like a Audi regional manager?

In truth, if this is typical, then I very much doubt I'll buy another Audi, because I can't imagine waiting more than a month for parts to repair a car.

Some areas will allow you to lemon the car if it's in the shop for over 30 days, look into it.

If parts have to come from Germany...
 

my experience is that it takes about 6 weeks. Why suspension parts would have to come from Germany I don't know, but when I needed a new floor pan it did have to be imported - and that took 6 weeks.

I waited about 5 weeks for suspension parts

no no... it doesn't *have* to take 6 weeks.
 

Unless it's being boated accross the atlantic. We can thank Lindbergh for having shown us a better way. ;-)

Just a bunch of lazy parts people...

A followup question: Can the parts dept tell you where the parts are, and give an ETA...

My frustration is that no one seems to know when the parts will come, was that the same experience for you? You meaning Nalyd, srs and itacud.

In my case...
 

it was at a body shop - so I dealt only with them, not the dealer parts department. The dealer-authorized body shop guessed six weeks because of previous experience, but didn't try to speed it up (like air freight)- as there were other repairs to be made that were going to take some time to do as well.

The whole repair process took way too much time - but it does teach patience (I've been told it's a virtue), and it's sooo nice when you finally get your ar back. Good luck.

Had to wait two months for some parts. Finally forced them to fedex some from Germany

At first my service rep told me there was no way to find out. Then I called his boss and made a big stink about this and some other problems. The boss was then able to get me a date that turned out to accurate within a day.
