Default allroad is a truck

When I bought mine I argued for a while with my insurance company - they said, oh that is a light truck. I said duh, its a car (thinking a car insurance rate would be better than a rollover prone truck).

Turns out Audi imported our "cars" as light trucks, and probably helped their corporate CAFE score a bit. See this link for the current Suburu case with their Outback moving from a car to a light truck (they do reference an Audi product in similar straights - allroad for sure):<ul><li><a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4191589/">http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4191589/</a</li></ul>

Default Keep on Truckin.....

So this brings to mind..

1. How is Audi going to meet the 27.5 MPG Average in 2005?

2. How can I get Yosemite Sam Mud Flaps on my allroad?

Default There's something about bumper height...

...in the determination. Maybe the EPA or whoever makes the determination found an allroad that had been set at level 4. HPH

Default Re: Read something about to be an SUV the back seat needs to fold down

The allroad has been classified an SUV since the beginning. Wished I had noticed that when I tinted the windows. Would have gone much darker on the back ones.

Default In Maryland ours are cars. Same tags as regular autos. Most SUV/Vans

get MPV or multi purpose vehicle tags. Trucks get a different tag. Cars have 3letters/3numbers. Suvs have an M with 6 numbers (the M used to be at the beginning but with the popularity of SUV/vans it now is in the middle also- 3numbers-M-3numbers) The Pacifica has MPV tags as mini vans and most other even compact SUVs. I just looked at the Autotrain site for a potential trip to Florida and a bonus is that the allroad would be an "automobile" for rate purposes.

Default yes classified as a light truck...

so mpg, emisions, and 2.5mph bumpers instead of 5mph on the cars&amp;avants...import taxes are different too.

the suv/light truck scam has hurt buyers, the public and the environment; while padding the auto maker bankrolls. this segment, including trucks is the only one where gm shows a profit. in fact gm makes more money in the financial services division (gmac) than they do in the manufacturing division....don't know about audi profits as the german company financial records aren't as available.
cheers

In Ireland, it's referred to, in the registration documents, as a "4WD Jeep" (?????)
