Default allroadfaq.com - Tip DTC #17125 - Failure poll question - UBER???

I am an Audi Tech and own a 2001 AR as well as a 1999 Avant, I also previously owned a 2002 4.2 all w/Tip. None of my cars ever displayed the code. I have replaced several Torque converters for the #17125 DTC on various C5s, mostly ARs and I think one 4.2. Another Tech I am working with has a 2002 AR displaying the code with about 80K but has not done anything about it as of yet. It seems to be the higher HP cars and I assume the ARs more than the 4.2s because there are more of them (at least here in Tahoe).

So I am interested in the poll for many reasons. In perticular I would like to know if the occurance is more prone w/a chipped or modified car or someone with a more "sperited" driving style.

UBER, is the data compiled from the poll available for anyone to see? I tried to contact you through your web site, alroadfaq.com some time ago but recieved no responce.

If so please let us know as I am sure many others here would be interested as well. I will suggest also having people who have NOT had the code submit there data to get a better idea of the failure percentage. Also more people will fill in the poll if you make the information avaiable to them. And not just people filling in the poll as many of us own C5s but have not had the problem (Yet, crossing my fingers).

Default BTW .has no diff between driving or Hp :0

I have done a bunch on non moded, everyday drivers (bad seal design),
But if it helps, mine was replaced @ 35k before I bought it of an older couple

Default 2nd that, has nothing to do with chipping or driving. Some people that are

chipped and drive aggresively do not have the problem, and some people that are stock and drive like snails do.

Like Audiot said it is a bad seal design by ZF that was redesigned in 2004 IIRC.

If you find the TSB on it, it lists when the design was changed. All of the TC's in Audis pool have the upgraded seal.

Default No corrolation between HP and tqc failure as related to 17125...

Moreover the TSB Audi issued clearly states an uprated part is available. The HP24 (4.2) trans has a different tqc all together.

Tqc's fail (analogous to a clutch in a manual I suppose) but generally not at 25k, or 50k or 80k or... you get the idea.

Any HP19FLA trans prior to mid '04 is susceptible depending on VIN (see TSB).

Default 'Cole you're setup and active as of about 5 minutes after your profile was created.

It's not automated because of SPAMMERS.
