Anyone change their slush box oil around 40k...preventative maintained
Was it in need of a change? I read on the A8 forum to change the ATF ever 30-40k. Does it hold true for the >2001? I'm planning on doing it to mine soon...Is this a waste of time and Money?

I just asked the dealer about that (since I have an appt. this coming Monday and would want it done if it was due), and they said that there isn't a set timeframe/mileage... that they usually recommend it around 100k miles. Seems like a long time to me... so I may have it done at some point in the not too distant future, just to be safe. (I have 55k miles on my '01 right now.)

Looked at when I was planning on doing mine, but
they (dealer) told me it was "lifetime fluid." No such thing IMO. BUT, then I figured out they were talking about automatics, like yours.
When the mechs were talking, it had to be done a certain way (certain temperature, pressure, etc.). The write up is somewhere here on the board.
Anyway, it can be done, but I don't think very easily unless you have the right tools. Lastly, I remember something about them only being able to remove "a third" of the fluid???? Not sure why that is, but then again, that applies to a lot of things I don't know.
Good luck.

not too difficuilt to do.
I read the procedure in the Bently and it really is not different from any other auto. I was hoping somone had done theirs and fluid was clean at 4x,xxx miles or fluid was dirty and there was abunch of crud in the pan. I will do mine in a week or so regardless
