The ol' eyes are pretty pitted, but could probably look new again with some grinding and polishing. I think this more than I'd want to take on by myself (have plenty of other things to keep me busy with the ar) so I'm curious if anyone else has had this done, or might know what kind of place could handle it?

I don't know where could do it, but you could try a Novus 1-2-3 kit, it's actually pretty easy

until all of the pits on the lens are smooth and go over it with some polishing cream using a power buffer if you have one. I did this on my 2001 allroad and it turned out great. See my pic poster for before and after pics.
