I installed 235/55 R17 Continental Crosscontact LX Sport's. 80% onroad 20% offroad. To date they are simply great, fuel efficiency remained as good as with the 100% onroad tire Fulda Sportcontact but it feels much more stable and grippy on terrain. It is not a mud tire and I think that riding in moody terrain would mean huge compromise in handling on onroad e.g. noise and vibrations (not mentioning the 190km/h allowed top speed...)
So it seems to be a perfect choice for a versatile, "Allroad" style of driving. The strut is quite close but it is no problem. The ride is a bit smoother due to higher sidewalls but the cornering capability remained the same.
