APR Chip for 2003 allroad
I have read that there is a bug or perhaps a programming feature that causes problems in the 2.7T engine (2003). I have also read that APR is aware of this and that a fix is coming soon.
Could someone who knows the story, explain what the problem is and if they have personally experienced the problem what the effect is, and finally, if someone knows -- what and when the "fix" will be in.
I have an oppotunity to go to the Ohio APR dealer sometime here in the month of April -- if I can get the work done and not have to revist the APR dealer for a fix, I would probably be tempted to go ahead and get my baby chipped.
Thanks for you help.

Milpitas?
Milpitas2.7T is our resident APR software expert. I believe the problem you are referring to is the lack of proper timing advance in the APR software.
My understanding is that the 'fix' is on the way, but nobody commits to anything more than that. The good news is that you can buy the current chip and the home programer. You would then be able to download the proper software when the next update comes out.

I am running the 2002 APR software and there are no problems...
but the timing is going to be advanced more in the next revision which will result in more power.
I'll let Milpitas chime in with more specifics, but I think this is more of a WOT situation. My part-throttle power is great with my chip.

it's not a bug per say but it's enough of a timing issue to cause some serious power loss
What is happening is on 91/93 octane the car is retarding timing for no real apparent reason, what happens is that the timing will pull back so much that you will be running between 4000-5500 with a -3 to a -8 degrees of timing thru the range. The car will feel sluggish, because honestly each point of timing equates to about 3 hp.. so a car that should be running around 5-6 degrees of timing, now running at -3 to -8 is taking a significant hit in power (you can feel it, feels flat).
However APR is aware of this and are working on it as I type. Once this is completed it will feel fantastic, perform fantastic and provide you with the EMCS feature, which surpasses all others at this time for the switchable programs.

interesting, when I got my chip I contacted APR because although the midrange was awsome............
I thought it flattened out a lot on top. They said I probably had a torn tbb or a bad bpv. AMS tbb and hyperboost bpv later and things were no different. I figured either the K03's were doing all they could with the chip or my exhaust was holding me back. Nice to know a fix may be in the works........
