As many of you know, we at Edge Racing have had some issues with the group buy that was trying to be organized by a member of this forum through SPP without our approval. I have not been particularly happy with the way this thing has been going on with all the secrecy and the back-door kind of approach.

Again, I REALLY appreciate the interest that "Sick of Change" has shown for the acquisition of our product, but do not appreciate the method he has been using.

I spoke with Eric at SPP Wednesday Nov. 14 and I prompted him to pull the plug on the GB and communicated my discomfort with the whole situation; we agreed that his GB would not materialize and he informed Sick of Change about it.

I learned Thursday morning that the GB was still on effect (behind our
backs) and with even more secrecy!?! I was forwarded an email stating that under no circumstances should any of the involved post info about the GB on AW.

The wheels would be imported as black market wheels. In other words not through Edge Racing the official national distributor. They were going to purchase these wheels through another distributor in Europe. We do not like that.

So we Edge Racing (the official Importers and Distributors) will now organize our first ever Group-Buy! Here are the details:

- At least 25 people.
- 25% deposit.
- November 30,2001 is the Group Buy "CLOSE" Date.
- Full warranty.
- ER-Bundles available

18x8.5 SPORTEC MONO/10 $325 each (high gloss or anthracite)
19x8.5 SPORTEC MONO/10 $378 each (high gloss or anthracite)

Please go to the page below so you can input all your information (no credit card info needed), you don't have to send any money and we will not charge any credit cards just yet. We will use this page to contact you. You can also contact us directly and I (or somebody on our staff) will put your information in our database. Here's the link:

http://www.edgeracing.com/gbs/gbs home.asp

These wheels will take a little longer (approx 45 days) to deliver because we are importing those by sea so we can lower the costs dramatically and we must make sure that all your orders are taken care off. All orders must be placed BEFORE November 30 in order to receive this special price and to be 100% sure that your wheels are in.

Regarding those of you who ALREADY have SPORTEC wheels (and purchased them through Edge Racing), do not worry. We did not forget about you so here's the deal:

All of you retail customers who purchased 18"s or 19"s through Edge Racing now have $50 per wheel credit ($200 per set) with us. You can use this credit on anything you wish at Edge Racing in the next 30 days. This is obviously a big cost to us. But we want to reassure our customers (and potential ones) that doing business with us was a good decision.

As you probably know, the main reason for this price decrease (and the fact that they were not like this before) is the substantially reduced freight charge and the impact that it has on the final product price. I want to make very clear that we always try to place the prices on the products we offer on the lowest possible level and those of you who purchased these wheels in the past paid higher prices because of our higher cost. Sportec is and will be a "niche" product... only available in limited sizes, applications and quantities.

Please contact me so I can answer any questions or if you want to participate in this group buy. You can also participate by clicking on this link (again):

Well there. I guess the ultimate goal was reached; to lower the SPORTEC prices

Those of you who have orders pending please contact me (or whoever your sales rep is) so we can discuss different options

Default MAX: I have one thing to say and one thing only...

If you would of taken up mine and SPP's offer on this group buy from the beginning, THERE WOULD BE NO ISSUE, no confusion, no problem. Now all the sudden you want to cover yourself and make yourself look like the good guy and the "hero" by finally making the right decision and to go ahead with it. You're covering your *** by making this group buy "an official Edgeracing GB" knowing I got this whole thing started that you TOTALLY REFUSED in the beginning, but now in the end is making you money. And the whole "Black Market Group Buy" thing is absolutely ludacris. Eric from SPP went to you FIRST, asking you to supply the wheels or not. He said this is how many we have interested, this is how many we need. Take it or leave it. You chose to leave it. Now he had to go elsewhere to be able to SUPPLY THOSE OTHERS still wanting them for that price but couldn't get them anymore if it was up to you. How fair is that? Thankyou...

Default Territories are protected for a reason, but then Microsoft isn't anyone's hero either...

Typically when your territory is infringed on by someone else within the network, you take it up with the company (who is legally bound to protect your territory), not the consumers. This ordeal should have never seen the light of the public day - rather Edge Racing should have let it go and taken it up within the company, trying to prevent a 'next time' from within, perhaps with some internal remuneration, but to stir up a hornets nest with the buying public? Are we supposed to be impressed and wooed by Edge Racing's monopolistic grip? If not, why handle this dilemma in such a public manner?

I wasn't involved, but I appreciate both sides of the coin, and I'm not entirely impressed with ER's grace. Yes they made the GB go through after the fact, but I get the feeling they feel rewarded by having publicly beaten those who sought to circumvent their monopoly.

The fact that Robin Hood's oppressor has had a change of heart with his victory doesn't make for a very persuasive political achievment. I will be swayed beyond this skepticism if ER demonstrates a long term change of heart by offering similarly attractive GB pricing for the enduring future. It certainly does not appear, in their heart of hearts, that they have that intention.

In business, battles are better fought discretely, out of sight of the consumer, wherever possible - just ask that dealer with the libel suit against the VW forum, I bet they won't be seeing any dramatic sales increases soon as a result.

Revenge tastes sweet but it is inspired by a very bitter taste. As a motivator, it is very base, reactive, and involves little if any discretion. Powerful? Yes. Impressive? Not particularly.

My .02...
