Audi Custom Accessory Collection still has the Hitch on the site.
But, I e-mailed them the following.
+++
This is in reference to the allroad and all of it's model years. I and a few other assocites have been told that the OEM Trailer hitch is no longer being sold by Audi and its dealer network. If this is true, I would like to know who the manufacturer of this item is as I would like to contact them in order to continue its production on a mail order basis, or perhaps I can have one of the manufacturing companies I am associated with make this in the US.
I will assume that Audi USA believes it has has achieved market saturation of this trailer hitch for original owners of the allroad. However, the second and third generation of allroad owner is only starting to take hold now. With this next level of ownership comes a younger, more active lifestyle. One that I think has more of a need for a trailer option than the original target market of allroad owners.
I would like to tap this market.
Please advise.

As always, well said. Now if we can find out the towing capacity difference
between US and ROW (Rest Of World), I might actually keep the allroad and tow with it. But I need the full 5,000 lbs. 3300 won't cut it.

Nice job Paul. IIRC the 3500 lbs is the max USA spec for Class 2, so the car may be capable of
towing more, but I think that we are limited due to the class 2 hitch.<ul><li><a href="http://www.uhaul.com/hitches/glossary/">Linky</a></li></ul>

Wonder if the hitch is really Class 3?
If you look at the other "cars" out there in this class, many have the (near) 5000 lb rating, with tons of "notes" around GVWR. "Cars" like the Volvo V/XC70/XC90, Honda Odyssey/Pilot, Acura MDX, etc. all have a ton of footnotes surrounding the tow rating (and GVWR). Add people and luggage...and eventually you end up right around the 3500 lb mark for tow weight with a full load.
I'm guessing AoA lawyers just set it at 3300 lbs and be done with it; no footnotes to argue about in a legal case.
Just guessing, based on the heftiness of this hitch when I installed it. I've installed quite a few hitches and the one in the allroad is pretty sturdy.
It would be interesting to see if the European model, supposedly rated at 5,000 lbs, has any footnotes around GVWR. Then again, I don't think they have as legitous society over there as the US.
