Default Audi Dealers are not alone in CPO..Rubber Stamp process.

A friend of my son buys a 3000 mile EVO from a dealer.. all CPO and factory warranty papers intact. Within 3 weeks the kid hears a knocking form the engine..takes it to another dealer and the service tech punches in the VIN... "This car has been RED FLAGGED.. no warranty of any kind the engine has been abused and replaced or something.. we can't help you."

They parents have it towed back to the selling dealer and blow their stack. Long Story Short.. they learned the original owner had the oil changed with a wrong filter (DIY) and ran the engine dry. Then he had to pay on his own for a short block rebuild.. and then traded in the car.

The father of the kid told the dealer's owner: "We will see you in court and on TV as we expose your fraud." Within three days the offending dealer refunded 100% of the money paid for the car and sold them a 2006 EVO RL at dead dealer cost.

We are not alone.... research the car befor you buy..

Default Actuall...idiots repair them too..

The story continued that during the short block rebuild they put the oil pan on with the wrong sealant. It was the sealant that started comming off in the ump and screwing up the oil intake.

Default so what have we learned?

as I have opined before: all dealers suck. There are no exceptions. Paulroad's story is more notable, to me, for the outright deceipt that the dealer engaged in. Taking a trashed engine and representing it as something else. Looking for any sucker who wouldnt run the vin. and they found one. Remember -- no exceptions: all dealers suck.

Default I much prefer a private sale...

I like to meet the previous owner and know the history and judge for myself. Dealers have only one motive.

Default Mits is notoriously tight on warraty issues...

Mitsubishi claims "the best backed car in the industry" but my Mits driving co-workers tell horror stories of Mits attemting to void warranties for installing a boost guage and air filter in one case and a turbo-timer in another...
