Brake issue: Pulsing while stopping. Tried the 80-20 hard stop @ 10 times to no avail. Brakes are
very hard to modulate when almost at a stop. Front rotors were replaced about a year ago for that same problem but soon came back. Any recommendations on what to do next?

Try spraying the rotors with water (when cold), letting them rust up overnight and then doing a few
60-10 runs. The rust acts as an abrasive and can help clean off uneven buildup of pad material - if that's the cause of your problem. It's worth a try, at least.

trg...I'm confused....
No offensece...but surface discoloration caused by water really has no abbrasive quality. It would rub off with your hand. Perhaps weeks of water and rust may do this, but not an overnight.
If anything, this methood would act as an abrasive to the pad. How can it effect any material build-up on the rotors when it is the rotor that has the abrasive rust on it?

When was the last time you replaced your brake fluid?
Doing a routine brake fluid flush cured a slight pulse I had. If you haven't done a flush in the last couple of years try it out. Good maintenance even if it doesn't work.

It's rotors. The hard stops work on squealing, not pulsing. Rust maybe, too.
Most new car rotors are lighter and warp easily. Once they warp, you may be able to 'turn' them on a lathe to true.
Best advise is to alter your braking style once you have new rotors. #1 hard on rotors activity is holding the pedal down firmly after a hard stop. The hot pads alter the heat disapation and warp the rotors. Try flipping it into neutral or park if you stop for more than a moment - another PIA if you don't have the 6-speed. When you stop, let the wheels move 1/4 turn every 15 seconds for a minute at a light. I know it sounds crazy, but it helps. If you brake hard and have cheap, thin rotors (like most oem), they may warp no matter what you do.
My a/r rotors are fine at 50k, and I've never warped a Porsche rotor. My Dodge warped no matter what I did. My Chevys never warped no matter what I do.
