brake shudder -- folow up
Mentioned a while back that I had the dreaded audi brake shudder and queried here on what others had experienced and what was replaced.
I took mine in for its 20k service, and because of timing had to leave it in the early-bird queue with just a written comment: "intermittent brake shudder, most notable from high speed stops." On that short note, they drove it, agreed, and replaced rotors and pads on all four corners. Case closed (for another 20k miles?).
Oh, and on the service report -- cause: warped rotors. Guess they haven't read the stoptech whitepaper.

yeah I did that...
as best I could, I had to drive to an area near my home where I could accomplish runs to 60mph-5mph over and over.
by the way, the way I did it was I picked a long (deserted) street, starting from a standing start accelerated to 60mph, then slowed down, made a Uturn and when back toward the starting point. each lap stopping harder and shortening the distance of the run each time. Was easy to see how hard to stop by shortening the stopping distance by 20' or so each pass. (I wondered how I would do that on first reading).
We'll see if it does any good.
