Default Brakes ?

Just returned from a long road trip.(Cal,Colo,To Southern Cal and Home Tahoe) What I have is that after long high speed (80 to 90) a shudder in the steering would delvelope and applaction of the brakes would result in (best discription a speed whable) Ill note that a slower speeds (75 range) this did not happen, Im suspecting brake drag at speed is heating the disk and inducing the shudder. Any in put? Any one have this happen to them?
Thanks

Default Sounds familiar - brake pads and rotors

Many of us have had the same experience. Replacing brake rotors and pads should take care of the vibration (for about another 15k miles). It's a warranty item.

Default Re: Yes. Comes up after about 35 to 40 min at speed.

Have to admit that I had the same thing on and C4 Corvette. It went away with the change of rotors and calepers.Iv only had the car (allroads)for two months (but now with 12K miles) Thansk for the Info.

Default rotors are a weak link with the allroad ...............

but I find it strange they would cause your shudder before the brakes are applied....

Im thinking that there is some light pad contac, and a slight warp in the rotor causes a hot spot or spots that get the warp realy going. Dosent realy instill confidance when slowing from hi-speeds.

Default By "brakes applied" he probably means full down pedal

But it's the process of applying the brakes, as the pads start to make contact with the rotors, that causes the vibration.

Default Yup - we're saying the same thing

Make sure the dealer replaces all four rotors and all pads. This fixed it for me.
