Re: Buying Allroad
1. Quality
2. All the advantages of a large station wagon
3. VERY quick, even the diesel
4. Reasonably exclusive depending on where you live
5. All year round usability
6. Huge array of options to personalise
7. Good long term bet if you want to keep it
8. German engineering that exceeds anything that even the big M can come up with
9. All the nice folk here to chew the fat with (?)
10.The way the door goes clunk when you close it

Like it, but here's my good AND bad-
I like the AR very much, but it is really does have ups and downs, and like I've seen other's say, is not for everyone.
The good:
- Awesome styling
- Awesome interior
- Good quality
- Great performance
- Very useful package
- Fun to drive
- A car, not a truck!!!
- Works great off-road
The bad:
- Stiff ride, yet doesn't handle/corner as well as you'd think given this stiffness
- I've had problems with "cabin booming"- uncomfortable low frequency noise in the cabin- dealer says it is typical in this product
- Atypical amounts of wind buffeting with windows/sunroof in different open/closed configurations
Don't listen to others or journalists who say the streering is too light. It feels that way at the beginning, but once you get used to the speed sensistive settings, it begins to feel totally natural. I actually like it better than other systems I've driven.
Overall, I like it a lot. But of you're not going to use the "allraod" unique parts of the car (off-road, snow, all weather performance, etc.), you'd have to give good consideration to others. But if you are going to use these features/functions, it is excellent.
