Default bypass valves

Many people have commenting on the replacement off the the bypass valuves in the 2.7T. When do you know if they need to be replaced and what part from VW is the correct part?

Default $29.95 each + shipping

I don't know the whole number but "N" is part of it. I bet "710" is also.

There is a tech article with a comparison test on valves but has some good info in general:

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng16.shtml

I've heard a sound file on one post that sounds like a goose honking when you let off the throttle. The sound is said to be a sure sign of a valve failure. I'm sure there are other ways to check and other problems that it will cause but ran out of time searching the archives.

$29.95

Default 710N is the right valve as Happy said...

This is a slight upgrade fro mthe stock valve. There is no real timetable to replace them. Its a simple rubber diafragm and spring. Its the rubber that generally wears out. The way to check is to tak one valve off at a time. and with a pen push the pring up via the LARGE hole. Put your finger over the opposite nipple and if the spring stays up due to the vaccum you created by holding the nipple closed then its a good valve. Check the other the same way.

The symptom of bad valves is a "spitting delivery" of turbo power, like the valve is cyling open/closed rapidly.

Default I replaced 8mo old stock valves with the 710N last week and not noticed a difference

The article is interesting and gives me an idea on what to look for. I'm not sure how much difference it makes with the TIP.

Default The diference is longevity as the 710N hs stronger rubber...

The differenc becomes apparent when you use non stock style valves like the Forge Valves ot the Bailey valves.

Default good to know. thanks.

If the 710N is a WV part and better why wouldn't Audi use them for our cars to begin with?

Default 710N bypass valves part number

The part number for the 710N bypass valve is 06A-145-710N. I was quoted about $45/each from the local Audi dealer.
