Can the 402 mod be done with a real VAG 1552?
I'm considering an allroad for purchase and I was just wondering if the 402 can be accessed via the factory tool VAG 1552 cuz I have one.
Also, I'd appreciate any input on which model year is good, bad, better, worse to have. 6cyl vs 8cyl, auto vs manual. Typical stuff and I know it's all opinions. Coming from a highly modded UrS4 that I am not sure if I am going to sell. But I just drove an 03 allroad turbo tip, and it was nice. Also I'd need to add the nav that is the big screen in the center from the factory. Does that talk to you? Tell you when to turn? I don't understand the other nav that is out there. Is it a little arrow that points and gives you direction but you have to read it? Curious but not a must have.
Anyway, cool car and I'm really excited about moving on.
Look forward to your responses.
Thanks
Nic

If you haven't found it yet www.allroadfaq.com should help, after that
just use the search for the info you ask above and then just read a whole bunch. If you are already an audiphile you will know more than most, after that you are right that it is just a large number of opinions. There is great info here though too.
As I told someone on the board earlier today I think that if you start out with a really great allroad you will continue to like it, in spite of it's potential shortcomings

Re: Where did you get the 1552????
See below, first time posting a link. Great place to find all kind of uber expensive tools.
I got it because I used to race a MKIII GTI VR6 in SCCA Club SSB and the only way to bleed the brakes fully on the Teves G20 ABS system was to use the VAG 1551 or 2 to activate the ABS pump and valve body. Funny to see brake fluid flying out of the bleeder screws at such a high rate and volume. Great way to go thru Motul 600 quickly as the system usually required somewhere near 15 cycles, equal to around 2+ quarts of brake fluid.
I later turned the car into a Speed WC Touring car and sadly only competed in one race before my retirement from racing due to marriage/kid/new business yada yada yada. Oh well, going next weekend to Portland, OR to compete in a 350Z in the Conference 8 hour enduro. Out of retirement for at least two days!

http://www.zelenda.com/</a
