Default Cargo cover - confirmed ability to *purchase* tabs and endcaps for the cargo cover.

So, a hasty passenger broke my cargo cover on Saturday (grrr). They actually broke the little tabs on the end, where the extended cover hooks into the trim next to the tailgate.

Vagcat shows the endcaps as part number:

"
30B 4B9 863 498A
cap with pin / press stud
right /

4B9863498A 4PK
soul (black)
-HA,NA,ND,MZ /
"

The tabs are listed as such:

"
35 4B9 863 661
detent peg
left a. right /

4B9 863 661 4PK
soul (black)
-HA,NA,ND,MZ /
"

So, I just talked to the dealer. The endcap, possible to lovingly handcraft with epoxy, is $49. FORTY NINE! But, this is only the right endcap, the only one available. I will continue to make do with what I currently have (sorta old and busted).

The bottom tabs are $7 for a 2 pack. I will pick these up this evening.

Just some news from the man on the street.

Best,
Bob

Default CNC MILL! CNC MILL!

Or rapid prototype? Sounds like you need to get into the ITLL.

Default You are not helping.

Plus I don't have space for a CNC mill. I mean, I'd make space if you wanted to buy one and keep it in my shop.

You know, I'd like to make the following correction: I will only make room for an EDM.

Sure I am. The ITLL is close, I think you can take a cheap adult ed class and get access.

One of those Dimension 3d Printers would build one nicely. Don't know about color match though

I think they latched it incorrectly (hooked it in the body panel edges, not in the intended slots)

that's not worth buying your own - easy to have parts made by service bureaus.

Default i don't know about that.

I've had plenty of parts made for real world automation applications. ABS parts are surprisingly strong and lightweight, not just for conceptual board room show pieces.
Online "Service Bureaus" I've priced charge plenty. For the # of parts I have in the field, we definitely could have paid for a couple machines by now.
