CEl Code 741 after Torque Converter Repair
My indy tranny shop changed out the TC (at 62k) and a few other parts short of a total rebuild. Yet, after approximately 80 miles the CEL comes back on and each time the code is 741.
Can anyone provide guidance as to what could be causing this?..the car shifts fine and gas mileage is improving to the former state....
Thanks

That is just a guess - your code should be P0741....
Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off
Corretive action:
- Check ATF level
- Check torque converter code
- Replace Pressure Control Valve N218 or replace valve body if necessary
- Read measuring value block; display group number 007 and check permissible converter slippage
- If necessary replace torque converter

Re: CEl Code 741 after Torque Converter Repair
From Bentley's
17125 P0741
ATF level not OK or incorrect torque converter installed
Pressure Control Valve -N218 mechanically faulty
Torque converter pressure pressure valve faulty.
Torque converter clutch valve faulty.
Bring it back to the shop..

Even though it was a Trans shop, have them check the trans Fluid PER AUDI MANUAL!! And hope they used the Audi issued Trans fluid for your AT, or 75-90 for your MT, everything else will lead to trouble.
It might well be that your fluid level is not correct yet, could be a simple fix.

Did they reset the codes after the TC install?
I'm assuming if not it would have appeared right away rather than after 80 miles. Some shops only clear the ECU codes and not the TCU codes.
Hopefully, it is something simple.

Same problem
I just purchased my Allroad this last weekend and on my drive home, ~60 miles, the check engine light came up and it was the same code, P0741. Did you ever find the exact cause of the CEL?

I just talked to my mechanic, who's done many of these, and he said I can ignore the 17125 code. I will just have to live with the MIL and the stepdown clunk.
I'm taking that over dropping $3k+.

I have a 2001 2.7t allroad with 86k miles and just got the dreaded P0741 code myself. I've cleared it several times to be sure and it comes back each every morning as soon as I hit 35 mph the on freeway onramp. Strangly enough when the I hook up the code reader sometimes it pulls the P0741 and sometimes it pulls P0181. Code just be my crazy code reader though. I've been reading all the horror stories regarding this. Any possibility is could be an easy fix?? Maybe its just wishful thinking on my part. Car has been running great though.
