Default Check engine light

My 2002 allroad blew the brake vacuum booster valve. I repaired it and the car runs great again but the check engine light came on. Is there any way to turn it off without going to the dealer. Our local dealer has a TERRIBLE reputation and my other mechanics are afraid of the car. Any help would be great. Thanks.

that one might have to be reset via vagcom, not 100% sure
knowing your location helps with that; there might be someone in your area with one that can help

You can buy a cheap VAG scanner and with it read and delete fault codes.
I do not know another way to delete faults codes from the memory of this car
