Chips and exhaust
I am looking into doing a chip and exhaust upgrade. Has anyone done either and could i have your feedback on what brands to consider? I am leaning towards the MTM chip and exhaust.

I too am a performance enthusiast...
the general concensus around the forums is that there is no concensus. everyone has an argument for which is the best chip and why it is better than the others. I think you will find that most people would recommend either the AMS chip, or the GIAC X chip. you will find equal rave review about both of these chips. I personally have a couple of friends with s4's that have the AMS chip and they are very satisfied, and no problems, so when i purchase I will probably go with AMS.
As for exhaust there are only two prefabed systems that I am aware of for the allroad, one is available at lltek, and the other at stratmosphere. It is pretty widely accepted that any free flowing exhaust system will give you about 7% gain, or 15hp. In my personal opinion these system are way over priced coming in at about 1200 buck (ouch). I am going to do a custom exhaust system sometime next week, and it will end up costing me about 400 bucks If you are interested I will let you know how it performs -- I am sure the same as other, as there is no magic to exhaust. If you need any other info let me know I will be happy to help.

Thanks for the information, I would be interested to know how you custom exhaust works out. Drove around VIR in a 996 last weekend and can't wait to take the allroad out. Exhaust systems are very sensitive to resonance, vibrations can actually cause backpressure.

That is from the Abt brochure picture, not LLtek - A6 quad tip exhaust from Abt

I don't believe the Strat system which is a Milltek system is for the AR
It's for the A6 2.7T but I thought our tips and the way they came up and out were different then those on the 2.7t A6 (Am I off base)? If so please tell me, as I would love to equip the allroad with the Milltek exhaust, have one on the S4 and love it.
Also chips were well summed up by LAAR. Everyone pimps what they have. ABT, APR, GIAC and even nuespeed are a safe bet. Well safe bet meaning they will give you a jolt in performance and jolt you towards warranty elimination.
