Default Crazy idea:

Would it work to install a second, hand-operated switch to activate the kick-down circuit that you normally only get by pushing the accelerator to the floor? If it worked to force a 1 or 2 gear downshift, you could hit the (conveniently-located) button in advance of that slow turn and beat the brake-throttle lag that so annoys us Tip owners. Maybe I could hijack the phone button on the steering wheel...

I personally find driving in Tip mode a nuisance for most in-town stuff, and I keep searching for an improvement in off-idle response at 5-20 mph.

Anybody know how that downshift circuit works?

Default Does anyone from Audi lurk on these forums?

For if there is anyone who does work for Audi who is reading the "musings" of frustrated Tip (lag) and Throttle (lag) owner's postings -- and this has been going on for YEARS (more than two)-- and continues to neither acknowlege nor rectify the issue, well this owner's solution should "give you [Audi] a clue!"

Whew.

Hopefully you get my drift -- people must really love their Audis if they will work to "rig" them to anticipate a problem/symptom that they know happens, rather than request a real fix.

When is this issue going to be history?

For all the gnashing of teeth and apparent "manual override" fixes, like this one, suggested -- you would think the 6spd manual would sell like hot cakes!

Default Even if you normally drive in auto mode...

...it's pretty easy (at least as easy as a 4 -> 3 manual downshift) to tap the shifter over into Tip mode and pull it back to downshift a gear; or to tap it into Tip mode and use the steering-wheel switch to downshift.

I think what you want is already there. HPH

In "D" or "S" just using the shift controls on the steering wheel do the trick for a 03 allroad...
