Default Dealer or No Dealer?

I have a 2002 2.7 Allroad, and am about 600 miles away from my first service sans warranty. The question if more of a multiple choice, do I:

1. Suck it up and take it to the dealer, which could lead to hundreds of dollars of "needed" repairs?

2. Go to an authorized audi repair place, and just get the oil changed and hope they don't want to suprise me with "needed" repairs?

3. Get the oil changed at a generic oil change place and reset the service warning myself?

So, having extensive experience with other car dealers I know how they love to tell you all about unexpected "needed" repairs that requiers 3-4 people to do 1 person jobs and take as much as they can squeeze out of you.

I am leaning towards #3, as it runs great, doesn't give me any troubles, and would just like to get my oil changed and be on my way. Plus I am probably looking at having to get new tires soon anyways.

Any help would be cool!

Default #2, and, it's better by far to have an indy tell you of a small problem...

...before it becomes a big problem.

If you need suggestions on where to take the car, you can ask in the appropriate regional forum.

Default NOT #3.

Asking for trouble.

Those guys don't know how to change the oil in an Audi, any more than they know how to change the oil in a 767's turbofans.

Hey I just had my GE CF6-800C2B7F turbofans serviced @ Juffy lube. They did an OK job.

Default I can't even imagine how a jiffy type place could mess this up when I can't

get either the dealer or sometimes even an indy to do stuff right...just getting the belly pan back on with all of the screws, putting it in jack mode, knowing what type of oil and how much...I could go on...maybe if you babysat it while they did it...I'm going to train my local, local (I live in a rural area adjacent to the city I work in) guy how to do it as I would rather give him the money and I trust him to "take direction", but I can't imagine taking "my baby" to just any old place

That's the only way #3 could work.

C'mon: I usually drop the Gulfstream at Quick Lube, visit Starbucks and pick up 30 mins later!

No such thing as "authorized" Audi repair other than dealer, just good independent shops. Find one!
