Default Differential bearing at 80k?

I just got a call from my independent mechanic after reporting noise when letting up on the throttle. He reports that I have a bad differential bearing. I did all maintenance through Audi until out of warranty, and I have done the last few maintenance appointments through an independent Audi specialist. Will any of this work be covered under some sort of extended powertrain warranty? What is my next step, should I take it back to the Audi dealer?

Thanks,
Ken

Default Its always worth the price of a call. to AoA customer care.

But doubtfull they will do anything.

If you were at 60K then perhaps they would.
Let us know what happens with the phone call.

Is this an atypical problem at 80k miles?

Thanks,
Ken
