Default Do I need to reprogram to install a TCM

I have 2001 Allroad Quattro. After a heavy rain passenger side floor was filled with water. After some googling I found out that it was because the drainage was clogged. Transmission Control Module was completely in the water. ABS, CHECK ENGINE, and triangle in circular arrow warning lights came on. I hoped if I replace TCM then all the warning lights would turn off. After I installed used TCM the warning lights are still there. I had error codes read at AutoZone. The error codes are:
P0600 Serial Communication Link
P0730 Gear Incorrect Ratio
P0778 Pressure Control Solenoid B Electrical.

Is this because I need to reprogram new(used) TCM? If yes how do I do that by myself? I really don't want to go to the 'stealership'

First clean up the water drain hose under the battery! It is clogged. That is why you suffered all this.
Try to dry out the TCM and harness completely. There might be some chance you are lucky.
If not, buy a used TCM with the same ending letter (matching number) and install.
The TCM has a self-learning function, constantly. It alignes its operation to the mechanical status, nature of the transmission.
Pre requisite: you have to have a perfectly operating engine , no MIL, no bad or halfway bad sensors (coolant temp, e-throttle, throttle body potmeter, etc., O2 sensors) In that case the so called "load sign" and "torque sign" calculated and transmitted by the ECU will not be precize enough to ensure a really smooth&very quick shifts therefore the TCU will be unable to match perfectly and will be (too) careful, managing sometimes annoying slow shifts. It also affects the lifespan of the torque converter.
In case the MIL lights up, TCU instantly exits from self-adaptation. In that case you need the trick it out. You have to make a "strong" reset on the TCU and switch off the MIL (if you have) at idle. Then you must go for at least 20-30 min long driving route with cold and warm (hot) engine in city and highway for the adaptation, which will be stopped at emerging the MIL again. But it is better not to have check engine icon.

Thank you for the reply PetrolBear. Sorry I forgot to mention in my previous post that I cleaned the drain pipe, dried the car by removing front passenger seat and cutting out the carpet (I didn't see any other way) and bought a used TCU with exact same number and plugged it to harness. I notice a change though, before connecting a new TCU the car jolted every time I shifted gear to D, P or R. But after connecting TCU the car now shifts smoothly as before. Does that mean anything?

How do I do "strong" reset on the TCU? I ordered vag-com cable, it should arrive today, can I do the mentioned reset with vag-com?

I bought and connected a harness but vagcom errors are the same. Here what they are:

i wanna say there are some soft coding number that have to match
certain sets of numbers that are coded into the old one have to match the replacement
but based on your readouts, your gonna have to spring for the full version of the software to do that

I thought maybe shareware version would to the job, I guess not. I am still thinking about buying a full version, but to be honest I am little reluctant to invest in that car because it's quite old (2001) and has 163k miles on it, but if this is the only way to make the module communicate with the car, i have not choice but shell out for the software. I noticed in your PS that your car is also 2001 audi allroad, do you use vcds in that car a lot?

Dude buy vcds lite, the free version doesnt do **** and you cannot clear codes or even read half of them. If you plan to keep this car its worth it. A basic autozone code reader wont read anything and cannot clear codes either. Even disconnecting the battery will not clear codes. As far as replacing a tcu google it, my guess is you can just throw the same one in there. Its when you replace ecu's things get tricky and you have to have a certin cable and certin software besides vcds to get the code to unlock your ecu in vcds.

Yes, I already did buy full version which cost me $200. It'll arrive tomorrow.I hope it worth it. One other reason of buying a full version is I also want to replace instrument cluster because mine has bad pixels and it's impossible to do that without vcds (or to go to dealership).
What do you mean by clearing codes? What is it for if does not solve the problem? I did clear codes once when I was playing around with vcds, but I wasn't sure what it was for.
