Default Does anyone run AW tires year round in snowy climes?

I had Goodyear Ulragrips that lasted only two seasons. I am contemplating leaving the AW tires I have on there now...Sumitomo(sp?).

Default I have GY Eagle F1 all seasons that I'm running in Colo Springs ...

(great tires BTW) that being said, the snow does not usually last that long here, even at 7000 feet. If I was in farther north clime, in the mountains, or not in a city, I would go for a winter set of wheels. I just have to remember that these tires are not dedicated snow tires and that all wheel drive does not mean all wheel stop.

Default ran pirelli P6 four seasons all last winter on my A4, living in CO

i got by, never got stuck. but i think that knowing how to control the car prevented me from ever really getting into any situations where i completely lost control of the car.

i realized they sucked once i went out and did a day of ice racing and had little traction.

im getting snow tires this winter.

Default 19" Yoko's last year, 18" Bridgestone this year in Saint Paul....

You can only go as fast as the rest of the herd. You have to realize that you are not going to stop & turn as well as you do on snow tires. That means about a dozen snowy days I have to slow down. The rest of winter I am on plowed, sanded, salted roads or wet cold highways where all seasons work fine. Not all AS tires are the same though, like most things in life, you get what you pay for. The two I have run are rated 1 & 2, Sumi's rated 15 on TR's survey.

Default Thats what Nokian WRs are for. Best overall AW.

My experience was so-so, I also like the Pirelli Pzero neros M&S and they worked well in snow.

Default Actually they do quite well. The only issue is when the snow gets ...

packed totally down and gets icy. Other than that they are very impressive in light and moderate snow.

Default Re: Does anyone run AW tires year round in snowy climes?

I ran Yokohama Advan S4 last winter in Chicago and never had a problem in one of the snowier winters in some time.

Where in ME are you? Lived in Brunswick, ME for 8 years and always ran all-season tires on all my vehicles. If you live away from the coast in the hill areas, I might invest in winter tires, but otherwise all-season in good condition s/b fine.
