Default Donegal - thanks for the advice on the mud guards

Just completed installing the rear ones. Tried to install without the hot water, didn't go to well. Warmed them up and it made a big difference. Swapped out the winter tires at the same time. Bought an impact wrench with the money I saved (always wanted one of those) by installing myself. Makes the lug nut thing go much faster.

You will now probably hit a dry spell, waiting months to see how effective they are, such is life:]

Default Donegal, mud flaps are a must for and gravel or offroad adventuring!

My first AR I had for 2 month and drove it over the pass sking many times. Much of the running board, flared trim and wheel wells became pitted and ugly. I like the AR better without them but I put them on my new one to avoid the pits!!!
I plan on hitting more gravel this summer!
Ciao

Do the mud guards reduce the effective ground clearance?

Default I occasionally hit speed bumps with mine...

A6 should be close in terms of "mudflap experience" when your suspension is set to my height... They are good at preventing muck on the door and rear quarter, and they are low to the ground. Mine have dragged on speedbumps occasionally, but work well enough in the mud that I keep them on!

FYI

Possibly, but I also, on occasion, run down gravel roads. The way the ar handles them I typically don't slow down much.

Never really have had problems with mud guards in the past. Bent a few running boards on SUVs I've owned.

Default In that case, the flaps should protect the shiny bits along the bottom of your doors.

I plan to apply Stongard to them.
For a car in everyday use, flaps are recommended, as are door rubbing strips, but that to some is an acquired taste

Default If we lived in a perfect world...........

..the allroad does look it's best naked as it left the factory.
But in the real world, we must take steps to protect the beast
