Default Finally did the fog light mod!

A quick trip to the local Autozone for 2 add-a-circuits ($12), a half hour with a volt meter just to make sure there were no surprises (compliments of my neighbor), and some help from other AW's and presto. A very easy mod to do, probably one of the easist than can be done. Now that it's done I figured total time to redo it...5 minutes.

One of the main reasons I did this was to keep a form of DRL's without having to run the xenon's all the time. The mod allows me to run the fogs without turning on the headlights but still kicks off when the high beams are lit. Lot's of gray, cloudy, and rainy days up here in the PNW and it can be hard sometimes to be seen without lights on. Plus, I like the way it looks ;-)

Default

I've got the same setup. Use it everytime I'm in the car.

Default good idea. i run my xenons it seems like almost all the time.

many complain about drl's. i personally think they are a great idea and I likely could have avoided being hit twice in the past if my cars at the time had them.

plus, they are GREAT for those complete idiots who are not intelligent enough to turn on their lights when needed

Default Very nice...now you got Daylight driving lights, something that should come stock from Audi.

Every little VW has it but not Audi...go figure ;-)

Default Was this based on this existing Tech article?

Default Do the fog light indicators @ the light switch come on?

If so, I will do the mod too. I'm in Seattle, where are U? I'd like to test your 5 minute theory!

Default NO way. DRLs suck....

Give the driver the OPTION to turn their lights on. I see too many people driving around in the dark, DRLs blaring and no other light around on the car. Dangerous.

If people are too stupid to turn their lights on in grey weather, rain, snow, darkness or whatever, then that's another problem to be addressed. But don't saddle me with DRLs...one of the lamest lighting features out there.

If you want DRLs on your Audi, just get a VAG-COM and code them up.

Also, if I had a Volkswagen, disabling the DRLs would be my first mod. And, I like K2Audi's foglight mod. My next mod on the allroad is to allow the fogs to come on with running lights and high beams. My european headlight switch is on the way...not sure if that will do it, but I needed a new switch anyway due to dim LED lighting.

There is no VAG code for this mod. (Unless your Canadian)

Default yeah...that was the article, but

I also found another article that piggy-backed on this one that showed a better pic of the add-a-circuits that I used (which look a little more safe)....but for the life of me I can't seem to find it now.

If you want I will take a pic of my set up. When I did mine I used the hazards slot for my hot wire
