Default Fidanza is good stuf, BUT, lighter flywheel make the car harder to get rolling

without stalling, or chattering. The enertia stored in the heavier flywheel makes the car easier to move, but is less respnsive to acceleration and deceleration. Road race guys use them, engine will definately rev faster but there is no horsepower gain, only inertial moment change.

Default As I thought....I remember...

when my son changed the 1.8T to an alum F-W. It sound a bit like a diesel at idle. Launch was better, but that's about it.

I know I'll need one sooner(125,000 at present) rather than later, so I'm just keeping my eye out.

I'll stick with a stock like F-W..subjet to any turbo upgrade that may be needed by that time.

Default In a car as heavy as the a/r I would try to keep flywheel weight close, it does help

drivability

Default Aha! That explains why most of the Stage 3+ South Bend clutches chatter on take off

I can't eliminate it, no matter how smooth I try to engage the clutch, the light flywheel seems to be the cause.

Thanks for your insight, it just confirmed my suspicions. One more reason NOT to do 1/4 miles with the ar ;-)

Default chatter is caused most likely from the change ...

from dual to single mass......and of course the change in weight

Default Is there anything that can be done (besides changing it) or just deal with it and take off easy?

About 80% of the time I got it under control, so it's actually not such a big deal; the only concern is - what could break?
