Are the Front Brakes Different Between 02 and 03 AR models?
#2
Yes. 02 had S4 calipers - HP2, 4-pad. 03 has new 2-pad calipers, that are A4-ish in shape...
They're also the same as the 02 A6 calipers.
The good news is, aftermarket pads are much cheaper for these 2-pad calipers.

Nobody makes aftermarket pads for these calipers.... yet.
Some background:
The new caliper takes a pad specified by FMSI# D915 - discovered through researching a tracing made of the pad backing plate.
None of the aftermarket brake pad makers have any clue what an '03 allroad uses, but Porterfield does list a 915 shaped pad for the '02 A6 on their website. It won't be available, however, for a couple more months.
For now, I'm using a D555 shaped pad, which happens to be the spec for an A4. It's not exactly the same, but it's close enough that it works in the allroad caliper w/o causing problems. Many thanks to Stoptech for their help in figuring this out.
