Default A Funny Thing Happened...(long)

...when I took my allroad in for service. Last Thursday, I went to the garage, and the front left of the car was sagging badly. It raised right up upon start, but I knew it needed to go in for service. I called the dealer, and arranged to get in that afternoon. Before I left, my wife warned me not to do anything without her being there. While I was waiting, I looked at the cars on the lot, and asked one of the salesmen if I could look at a 2007 A6 S-line. Of course he was happy to show me the car, then offered to let me drive it. After the drive, he offered to run some numbers, just to see where I would be. While he was doing that, I received a text message from my wife: "A8 nicely equipped, $$$$$$, your trade, $$$$$, Down payment, $$$$$, interest rate, your payments$$$. Just so you know."

So he comes back with a nice print out for the A6, which I looked at and didn't think much about. Then I asked about A8s "Just for fun". He said there were two 2006's on the lot. I asked what the numbers would be. He turned over the A6 sheet, and scribbled numbers (cont)

...on the back. The first thing he wrote was "-$7000". That caught my interest. We went and sat in the A8L, and he demonstrated the Bluetooth. I called my wife, and said "Guess where I'm sitting?" Her response was "Do I need to come up there?" Obviously, the answer was yes, we drove the A8, and after she did her negotiating on the trade, I left with a PT Cruiser. They kept the allroad ($900 repair, $800 covered by extended warranty) and the A8L to prep. We picked up the A8L the next day. My former allroad (silver 2002 tip, 65100 miles) is on the lot at $19995. I have the Ice Link +, which was used for a year and a half, if anyone is interested. Good luck to all, I hate to give up the allroad, but the A8L is even more amazing.

Default The A8 is great, but of course it's comparing apples to oranges.

I'd rather have the ar on a snowy day but the A8L is one fine cruiser.

Default The 4.2 engine makes the difference...

For example the allroad 4.2 is a smooth car and it's an allroad. Good luck

Default I believe the proper response is . . .

YOU SUCK !!!

the A8 is a very sweet ride. I suspect it drives smaller than it is. A great way to eat up the miles on the highway.

The only thing better than that would be a non-existant S8 Avant. That would be a car to sell the house and live in it. Oh, well, I can dream.
